HAFCAC has an incredible history of campaigning success - we’ve changed the way our council thinks about disabled people. Founding members of HAFCAC have been asked to share how it happened by other DPO’s and Disabled campaigners from London, across the country and across Europe.

We know grassroots campaigning can work. Hammersmith and Fulham is still the only borough in the country to have abolished home care charges after trying to increase them. Our borough is leading the way on disabled people co-producing the services that affect us.

Our next step is to set up a campaigning group of Disabled residents in Hammersmith and Fulham. HAFCAC wants to make sure that local Disabled activism in H&F is sustainable. That local Disabled residents are supported to become campaigners and fight for our rights in a way that works for us, as Disabled people.

We will be offering campaign training, working with other Disabled People’s Organisations within the borough and across London, as well as other local campaign groups.

To do all this, we need people to get involved. If you are interested in finding out more about campaigning or want to express interest in training, please contact our Development Worker at development@hafcac.org.uk.
